Peridot Jewelry

Peridot is August's birthstone and the gem designated for the 16th wedding anniversary. Peridot is said to bring healing and vitality to the whole body, to increase patience, confidence and assertiveness.

Peridot was also given the name of the "seaman's emerald" since seafarers had brought it as a valuable gift to Europe.

We call these earrings 'petite' but actually they're a very nice size gemstone size of 1/4" (or 6 mm) across. That's equal to a .75 carat diamond size per earring or 1.5 carats per pair.

They have very pretty 925 sterling silver earwires with bezel settings embellished by 3 silver dots at the bottom, all 925 sterling silver. In your choice of natural faceted gemstone! Peridot is an ancient, yet currently very popular gemstone. It is so old that it can be found in Egyptian jewellery from the early second millennium BC. The early Egyptians claimed that peridot glowed by night but was invisible by day.

For centuries, peridot was found on the island of Zabargad, known as the "serpent isle" in the Red Sea. According to Greek legend vicious snakes lived on the island, guarding the precious stone and killing anyone who dared approach it.
